California High School Hosts Academic Banquet

California High School held its annual Academic Banquet, May 10. This event recognizes students for their academic achievements.

About 80 students were recognized this year for different accomplishments. Some students received one or more awards in English, Math, Science, Art, DECA History and other classes and scholastic activities.

"Seeing this many students being recognized for achievements in the classroom is really special," said Jessica Schaefer, counselor.

Most teachers recognized students with the highest grades in their respective classes as well as their most improved students. Other awards marked special accomplishments like lettering in Math or Academic Team or earning high ratings at contests.

Principal Dwight Sanders gave special recognition to recipients of the Principal's Award for character and leadership. Those students were Libby Martin, freshman; Audrey Imhoff, sophomore; Jared Kendrick, junior; Jayme Reynolds, senior.

"I did not really expect all of the awards that I received, but I'm really grateful," said Imhoff.

A list of awards and recipients will be posted at the californiak12.org website.
