HEINEN
Donald William Heinen, 85, of California, Mo., passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at California Care Center.
He was born on October 10, 1926 in California, Mo., the son of Henry and Genevieve (Chambers) Heinen, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on February 9, 1957 in California, Mo., to Helen Dee Sappington, who survives of the home.
Donald was a graduate of Centertown High School. He served in the United States Army in the Korean War from October 1950 through June 1952 and was a Purple Heart recipient. He served as deputy sheriff of Moniteau County and co-owner of Heinen's Blacksmith Shop. He retired in 1992 after serving 30 years as Moniteau County Circuit Clerk and Recorder of Deeds and contract service man for Sears. Donald was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #2693, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4345, Disabled American Veterans, California Progress, Inc., and Friends of the Library.
Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Heinen of Pittsfield, Ill., Tammy (Bill) Brown of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Donna Heinen of Columbia, Mo.; two grandchildren, Zachary (Megan) Brown and Brittany Brown; and one great-granddaughter Sadie Brown of Lee's Summit.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Church in California. Burial with full military honors was in Annunciation Catholic Cemetery. Officiating was Fr. Fred Elskamp.

HOGAN
Marcella Christine Hogan, 77, of Clarksburg, Mo., passed away on Friday, November 4, 2011 at her residence.
She was born on June 21, 1934 in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Sherman and Ruby Dee (Horton) Hogan, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a 1952 graduate of the School of Lake of the Ozarks. She was married on December 10, 1970 to Cecil E. Wood, who survives of California, Mo.
She worked from 1961 to 1984 as a clerk for the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology and later for the Department of Revenue. She was a member of the Campfire Fellowship Cowboy Church in Tipton, and was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. She also was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the Show Me Horse Show Circuit, the Palomino Association, and the Appaloosa Horse Club. She was a 4-H Youth Instructor and a sponsor for the Foreign Exchange Student Program, from which she had young people from all over the world in her home.
She is survived by one son, Justin Wood and fiancé Cindy Schatzer of Clarksburg, Mo.; two daughters, Terri Weiler and fiancé Mark Bilderback of Tipton, Mo., and Dallas Jacksons and husband Earl of Alamogordo, N.M.; grandchildren Laura Latham, Jason Schatzer, Marshall H. Branton and wife Jennifer, Robin D. Earl and husband Wesley, Sierra Davidson, Dawna Goade, Jonathan and Michael Basnett; great-grandchildren Taylor Zimmerman, Garrett Latham, Danika Latham, and Thaddious Branton; two sisters, Nancy Webb of Kansas City, Mo., and Virginia O'Hare of Lake Ozark, Mo.; nieces Leah Sapp and husband Matt, and Jennifer Hatfield; nephews Scott Hatfield and Eric Webb and wife Robin; and great-nephews Luke and Jake.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

STROBEL
Leo J. Strobel, 87, of rural Concordia, Mo., died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.
Born December 27, 1923, in Lohman, Mo., he was the son of the late Otto H. Strobel and Johanna Rockelman Strobel. He was a 1943 graduate of Russellville High School. On November 24, 1945 he married Cornelia M. Linsenbardt who preceded him in death on June 17, 2011. They moved to Concordia in 1957 where he was a life long farmer and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, Richard E. Strobel and wife Linda, Bruce G. Strobel and wife Alice, all of rural Concordia; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Tena Doehla of rural Concordia; along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Laura Gasau.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Patrick Niles officiating. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
