California freshman capture 42-20 win at Sedalia

The California High School freshman and JV football teams traveled to Sedalia Monday night, where the freshman Pintos defeated Smith-Cotton 42-20, while the JV lost a close contest on a last-second field goal, 29-26.

Previously, the freshman Pintos were on the road Oct. 6 for a contest against Jeff Jr. at Rock Bridge High School, Columbia, where California suffered a 22-14 loss.

"We made mistakes that hurt us most of the night," California Coach Rich Matzes said.

Jeff. Jr. led 8-0 after the first quarter, however, the Pintos answered with two touchdowns in the second quarter.
