HAYS
Evelyn C. Hays, 94, of Tipton, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
She was born September 5, 1917, near Columbia, Mo., to Frank and Lelia Felser Hall. On December 2, 1945, she married Merlyn Hays, who preceded her in death.
She graduated from University High School and the University of Missouri in Columbia with a degree in Home Economics. She served as a cafeteria manager for Hickman and Jefferson Schools in Columbia.
She moved to Moniteau County as a University Extension Agent . She taught Kindergarten in Tipton, where she was the first teacher for over a thousand students.
She is survived by two daughters-Gloria Knipp of Tipton and Linda Hays of Columbia; one daughter-in-law Barbara Hays of Tipton, three grandsons-Jason Hays of Tipton, Matthew Knipp of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Tim Knipp of Springfield, Mo. She was preceded in death by her son, Steve; her siblings-Lillian Johnson, Alice Howell, Blanche Easley, Florence Grooms, and Herman Hall.
Services will be Wednesday, October 26 at the First Baptist Church in Tipton at 10:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow Cemetery in Tipton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or the Tipton First Baptist Church.
KIESLING
Dwight D. Kiesling, 55, of Jamestown, Mo., passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on October 10, 1956 in California, Mo., the son of Edward Theodore and Florence Kathryn (Baer) Kiesling, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on October 10, 1981 to Phyllis Rohrbach, who survives of the home.
He was a 1975 graduate of California High School and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California. He worked as a bulk plant manager for MFA Oil Company.
He is survived by three daughters, Heather Johnson of Jefferson City, Mo., Lesley Schmidt and husband Chris of Belton, Mo., and Heidi Fields of Jamestown, Mo.; one son, Brandon Kiesling and wife Alicia of Fort Worth, Texas; five brothers, Ronald Kiesling and wife Joyce of Clarksburg, Mo., Dean Kiesling, Harold Kiesling and wife Sallie, Paul Kiesling and wife Carolyn, and Kenny Kiesling, all of California, Mo.; six sisters, Betty Schrader, Mary Oesterly and husband Gary, Joyce Rex and husband William, Ruth Coale and husband Jerry, Linda Kirchoff, all of California, Mo., and Sharon Ocheskey and husband Gordon of Bonnots Mill, Mo.; mother-in-law Lula Rohrbach of Latham, Mo.; grandchildren, Ryland and Reagan Johnson, Jackson and Colton Schmidt and Brayden Fields. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Richard Kiesling.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in California, Mo. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Peter Kurowski, with words of encouragement by Rev. Brandon Kiesling. Also assisting was Pastor Louie Moyers.
Memorials are suggested to the MFA Oil Foundation, 1 Ray Young Drive, Columbia, MO 65205. Dwight donated many grants through this foundation for local organizations and schools.
