The Russellville High School varsity volleyball team faced Eugene in the first round of the Class 2 District 7 Volleyball Tournament Monday at Blair Oaks High School, Wardsville, where the Lady Indians, 10-13-3 and seeded third, defeated the Lady Eagles, the sixth seed, 25-19, 25-16.
"We did a lot of good things and every now and then just looked tired, but we pulled off the win and that's what matters," Russellville Coach Ashley Karle said. "There were quite a few volleys where we were very scrappy, which is something we've come a long way on since the beginning of the season. It's fun to watch the girls play like that."
Kennedy Volkart led the Lady Indians with four blocks, six kills and five digs. Kaley Payne had nine assists and four digs.
