FCCLA Takes the Money Collected to the Region 13 Meeting

California High School's FCCLA attended the Region 13 meeting on Thursday, Oct. 12, in Pilot Grove where they donated money for the Joplin Relief and shared chapter updates.

Region 13 President spoke briefly then introduced guest speaker Brandon Lee White. White founded "Step In Step Out," a ballroom dance program, worked with Corky Ballas from "Dancing with the Stars," and co-owns Happy Rhino Clothing, a youth activist clothing line.

Regional officers and chapter presidents were given an opportunity to speak. Senior Sierra Happold represented CHS.

A particular exciting event was the announcement of the results of the regional fall activity. In September all chapters began collecting money for the Joplin relief. The money was brought to the regional meeting where Treasurer Brittanie Grandestaff tallied over $200 collected.

For California's part Adviser Monique Schepers had her FACS classes compete for who could donate the most money. Her first hour Housing and Home Furnishing won and will get breakfast in class.
