Three DECA members from California High School attended the Fall Leadership and State Elections Conference Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The students attending were Noel Sandoval, Leo Lutz and Courtland Gerhart. Julia Potter attended as the adviser. Noel ran for District 5 Vice President.
Sunday night they had a District 5 meeting where Sandoval and another candidate from Waynesville took a test. Afterwards, both candidates campaigned by displaying a board of information about themselves and handing out goodies. They also gave speeches on why they should be chosen for vice president.
Six chapters from District 5 attended the conference. For the election of vice president, two votes from each chapter counted. That night Sandoval was voted the new District 5 Vice President.
Sandoval mentioned, "I'm excited to be vice president, it was a fun experience and it was good to see old friends."
Potter said, "I am looking forward for the new opportunities Noel will be presented with from becoming the new vice president."
The next day, Sandoval attended a leadership academy workshop, Gerhart attended a screening and nominating committee and Lutz attended a social networking workshop.
