California JV Volleyball executes a Victory

Tuesday, Sept. 20, JV volleyball teams A and B matched up against Jeff Junior out of Columbia. Coach Tammy Scheidt said, "Jeff Jr. was one of our easier games of the season. I was expecting/hoping for a win" and the Pintos got just that.

The plans for the games were "to try some new rotations and build on skills in a game situation," said Scheidt. "We are trying to work on consistency and Tuesday night gave us a chance to do that.

"The girls played pretty consistent besides a few missed serves in each game they shouldn't have missed! We gained the lead early in both games and kept going through to the win," said Scheidt.

Morgan Henley led the team with 8 service points followed by Sam wise with 6 and 1 ace. Paige Halsey led the team with 4 kills, followed by Jessica Gammon with 3.

Coach Scheidt did say that "throughout the match, our passing on serve receive and defense was awesome and that allowed us to have a better offense and get a lot of kills."

Morgan Henley had 5 assists for the team lead, while Sam Wise followed with 1. Abby Strickfaden, Paige Henley, and Kelsey Roush all tied for 1 block in the game. Leah Davis had a whopping 12 digs which was the team lead, followed by Morgan Henley and Kelsey Roush with 2.

California lived up to the expectations of there fans and coaches by winning this game, and hope to have the same results in the remainder of their season.
