Register for youth baseball and softball by April 12

Registration forms for area youth interested in playing summber baseball and softball with the City of California Parks and Recreation are currently available at City Hall, California.

The cost to participate is as follows: T-Ball for grades K-1, $25; Midget for grades 2-3, Intermediate for grades 4-5, $30; and Junior for grades 6-8, $30.

Games will begin the week of May 28.

Registration forms can be mailed to California City Hall, 500 S. Oak St., or dropped off at City Hall from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Mon. - Fri. After hours, forms can be dropped off in the Utility Drop Box in front of City Hall.

Checks must be made payable to: City of California Parks and Recreation. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. Thursday, April 12.

A free competition, the Aquafina MLB Pitch Hit and Run, will be offered to youth ages 7-14 who want the opportunity to attend the MLB All-Star game in Kansas City. Registration will be held 10-10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at Field #3 at the California Sports Complex. The competition will immediately follow the registration.

Adult softball leagues are also being offered through the City of California Parks and Recreation Dept. Co-ed, mens' and church leagues will play a 10-week game schedule at the California Sports Complex. Church league games will be played on Saturdays, beginning May 12, while the co-ed and mens' leagues will play on Sundays, beginning May 13.

The deadline to register a team is 5 p.m. April 27. The team entry fee is $150. Registration forms and information (rules) packets are available at California City Hall and California Parks and Recreation.

A mandatory managers meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at California City Hall.
