Lady Panthers fall to Harrisburg in opener

Prairie Home's varsity softball team opened the season at home Thursday with a tough 18-0 loss to Harrisburg.

"Our first inning was just nerves," Prairie Home Coach Glenda Scott said. "Then we settled down."

The Lady Bulldogs scored 10 runs in the first inning, two in the second, one in the third and five in the fourth.

Makayla Zey recorded the loss for the Lady Panthers.

"Makayla pitched a good game, we just made too many errors behind her," Scott said.

Kendra Stinson, Josie Flood and Zey led Prairie Home hits with singles.

"I was pleased with our hitting," Scott said. "We hit the ball, but Harrisburg is a good defensive team. We have to improve our defense. Kendra had a hit in the first inning, walked the next time up and stole two bases, which makes her a good lead-off batter for us."

Scott added, "Kohlie Stock played well at center field and Josie Flood was great at third base.

Prairie Home will play at Jamestown at 5 p.m. Thursday.
