Finke Theatre Marquee started

Work began Thursday, Aug. 23, on the marquee long planned for the renovated Finke Theatre.

Construction was planned early on but was delayed by the storm sewer project extending from High Street south of the post office to Main Street on the west side of Highway 87.

Since the storm sewer improvements required drop boxes on the corners nearest the theater and a large drain pipe under the sidewalk in front of the theater, construction of the marquee had to wait. The marquee is funded by donations received for the purpose by California Progress, Inc. (CPI), some CPI funds, a donation for electric work by Ameren and Friends of the Finke Theatre.

In other business, the board discussed the April 2013 Wine Dine & Win fundraiser event. Other possible fundraising ideas were discussed.

An update was given on the "Missouri Main Street Downtown Revitalization Conference" attended by several members. Committees need to be set up and plans made for training sessions for the next two years.

CPI plans to have a booth at the upcoming Ozark Ham and Turkey Festival.
