Administrators at Cole County R-1 Schools will discuss the school safety plans after the Christmas break.
They also will update school data for the Emergency Response Information Portal (ERIP), developed by the state for schools and other public entities to make easy access to that information possible for emergency response personnel.
ERIP is a web-based, secure program for emergency personnel only. It is designed specifically to help emergency personnel who would need to enter a school building the case of an emergency.
"As most of us know from the Sandy Hook School shooting, they did everything right in preparing for such an event," Superintendent Jerry Hobbs told the Board of Education Thursday.
Elementary Principal Karen Ponder noted that her building conducts scheduled emergency drills and had practiced the inside intruder drill Dec. 3.
"We continue to analyze our drills," Ponder said. The board also discussed a routine audit conducted by Gerding, Lorte & Chitwood P.C. of Boonville, which had no negative findings or issues with the school's budget for the year ending June 30, 2012.
