There may be four more weeks of winter, but that's not stopping the baseball boys from getting a head start. The California Baseball Team starts daily preseason practice Feb. 27 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. This year the head coach is Dwight Fitzwater and he is assisted by Jack Lake. Fitzwater is looking forward to the upcoming season, and he commented, "There is a lot of competition for positions. No one has a definite assigned position and everyone is working hard. The team this year is young and inexperienced for the varsity level, but they will surprise people."
As of right now there are 26 boys trying out for the baseball team. The first game will be March 19 at Eugene.
