Stephen Feilbach said because he is dyslexic, he has always had a lot of issues dealing with expressing himself through words. But he has found a voice and way to cope with those things through sculpture and art. Art has been a therapy for Feilbach his whole life and after being introduced to the concept of art as therapy, he wants to share that with others.

Unconventional Art: Utilizing Art for Therapy meets at 6:30 p.m., every first Thursday, at Wood Place Public Library, California.

"It is introducing art as therapy for people who need an outlet for their emotions which all do," Feilbach said. "Art is able to give people a voice for their feelings. There are things which may not be able to be said, but can be painted. It does not have to be a masterpiece, but is just a release of emotions and a temporary detachment from reality."
