County takes over old highway 50

On old Highway 50 (now Lookout Trail), approaching McGirk from the east, the intersection with Route PP has been improved for safety. Traffic must now take a slight curve at the intersection.

Moniteau County is now in charge of road maintenance for old Highway 50 from the city limits of California to the Cole County line and Route PP.

According to Moniteau County Presiding Commissioner Kenny Kunze, the documents have been signed by the concerned parties for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT)to turn maintenance responsibilities over to the county road crews for the above mentioned stretch of old Highway 50, now called Lookout Trail, and Route PP north of McGirk.

Road resurfacing and improvements to the old highway's intersection with Route PP were completed before the changeover.
