California's freshman boys basketball team traveled to Sedalia Jan. 23, where the Pintos defeated Smith-Cotton 47-37.
"The boys gave a great defensive effort," California Coach Dustin Jeffries said. "Smith-Cotton had some really good players who could handle the ball and shoot well, but we closed out on their shooters and rebounded well. We employed a new defense, kept fresh legs on the court and attacked the rim every possession."
