A 100th birthday celebration was held at California Care Center for lifelong Mid-Missouri resident Cleffie Long. A specially decorated cake, ice cream, punch and other goodies were served at the the event which packed the common area of the nursing home. Proclamations marking July 1st Cleffie Long Day (Clarksburg) and Cleffie M. Long Day (California) were handed to Long by Clarksburg Mayor Eric Moore and California Mayor Norris Gerhart. Moore, president of the Moniteau County Democratic Club, also gave Long a proclamation from the club marking Long as a lifetime member.
Long has one daughter, Gleneth Rowles (son-in-law Bill Rowles), one grandson, Ronnie Rowles (granddaughter-in-law Angie Rowles), and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Jordan.
During the event, new Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Clarksburg, Pastor Bill Romans gave a special prayer. Afterward, Long told Romans she was his oldest member at the church.
