2012 Trail Challenge at Fair Aug. 4

The Moniteau Saddle Club and Moniteau County Farm Bureau will present the 2012 Trail Challenge at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at the 146th Moniteau County Fair and the fairgrounds, California.

Registration will be held at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event.

Entry fees for participants are $10 for youth ages 15 and under, and $20 for open trail riders.

The purpose of the Trail Challenge is to promote good horsemanship skills and provide an educational venue. The challenge tests a horse and rider on their ability to work as a team and navigate natural and man-made obstacles.

Participants must wear western attire and must complete and sign a waiver before competition. Those under the age of 18 must have a parental consent signed waiver.

Participants will be judged and timed. Prizes to be awarded will include ribbons for youth in grades 1-6, and a buckle for the open champion.

This challenge has been re-named the "First Annual Wayne Bueker Memorial Trail Challenge" in honor of faithful Saddle Club member Wayne Bueker, who recently died after battling cancer.

There is no admission charge for spectators. All are welcome to attend.
