Council approves membership in revitalization organization

July 24th, 2012 in News

At the regular monthly meeting of California Progress, Inc., (CPI) Board of Directors on Tuesday, July 17, Beth Jungmeyer presented an update of the Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC).

The California City Council voted at its July meeting to become a member of Aspiring Communities, the first tier of MMSC. The council also approved paying the CPI membership dues in the organization.

MMSC provides communities with "knowledge and tools for economic and physical revitalization of downtowns." This is with the idea of preservation of historic locales.

Although "downtown" is understood in California to be the area in the vicinity of Boonesborough Square, of the Moniteau County Courthouse, the term "downtown" as used by the MMSC or the DREAM Initiative actually designates an older business district and its surrounding environs.
