BROWN

John S. Brown, 67, Barnett, died May 5, 2012.

Graveside services will be held July 26 at Big Rock Cemetery, at 6 p.m. Big Rock Cemetery is located near Barnett on Highway 52.

COTTEN

Velma L. Cotten, 84, Eldon, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at St. Mary's Health Center.

She was born in Eldon on June 29, 1928, daughter of Earl and Nettie (Uptergrove) Jobe. On April 9, 1950, in Eldon, she was married to Leonard V. Cotten, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2003.

Survivors include: two daughters, Olive Sauer, Phillipsburg, and Judy Bever, Eldon; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m.. July 25, at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. Interment will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.

Memorial contributions are suggested to First Christian Church of Versailles or Meals on Wheels in Eldon.

Nadean Theola Lavallee, 91, passed away July 22, 2012 at Villa Marie Rehab Center in Jefferson City.

She was born August 23, 1920, daughter of Charles and Amelia (Pennington) Dummermuth, in Jamestown, Mo. Nadean worked for many years as a bindery worker at VonHoffman Press in Jefferson City.

Nadean enjoyed gardening, tending to her plants and flowers and loved to bake, giving pies and cookies to her family and friends. She loved to watch Cardinal's Baseball and all football games.

She is survived by her daughters, Karin Gilpin, Linda Reed and Judy Coons; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Delbert and Earnest; one daughter, Nancy Lavallee; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the Roll Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the California City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital.

LEEPER

Edith "Carline" (Gilbert) Leeper, age 77, of Kingston, Mo., passed away Tuesday, July 17, in her home, surrounded by her family after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Carline was born August 10, 1934, to Carl and Pauline (James) Gilbert at their home in Hamilton.

She graduated from New York School in 1952, and married George D. Leeper on March 12, 1956, in Hamilton, Mo.

Carline accepted the Lord as her Savior in 1955, and was an active member of the Kingston Ladies Aide Group for many years.

Carline worked at Hawks Motor Company in Hamilton after graduating high school prior to marrying George and moving to their farm in Kingston, Mo., where she raised her family. Carline and George later moved a quarter mile down the road and made their home. Carline loved working in her gardens and canned as much as possible every year. She enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends. She was a founding member of the local Women in Ag chapter in 1995, and continued to participate throughout her life. She took pride in the fact that she only missed two conferences.

Carline was always busy. She worked as a fill-in secretary with Farm Bureau, worked with the voting polls, and was in charge of the Kingston Senior Housing project for a number of years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pauline (1990) and Carl (1999), and brother-in-law, Kenneth Cummings.

She is survived by husband, George, of the home; sons, Duane, Cameron, Mo., David (Debbie) of Kingston, Gene (Sharon) of California, Mo.; Dean (Carlena), Pattonsburg, Mo., and James (Kay) of Kingston; grandchildren: Brennan (Lisa), Drayson, Danielle, Skyler, Derrick and Dalton; one sister, Donna Cummings Henson, Hamilton, Mo., and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 20, at Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton. Interment was in the Kingston Cemetery, Kingston, Mo.

OTTEN

Lydia Rochell Otten, 28, of Sedalia, Mo., went to be with the Lord, on Friday, July 20, 2012, at Sedalia, Mo.

She was born on March 12, 1984, in Columbia, Mo., the daughter of Larry and Kathy (McDonald) Drake, near Latham, Mo.; and Mark and Gay Otten, Sedalia, Mo.

She enjoyed music, singing, and loved animals. She liked to play softball, participate in MMA fighting, but ultimately loved spending time with friends and family. Lydia worked for five years at Sierra Bullets, but found her passion in the health care industry. She was a very loving and compassionate person who enjoyed caring for the elderly. Lydia was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, Sedalia, Mo. She rededicated her life to the Lord earlier this year.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her daughter, Ashley Edwards, Syracuse, Mo.; four brothers, Eli Elmlinger and his wife Illene, Kirksville, Mo.; Calvin Drake and his wife Tricia, Syracuse, Mo.; Uriah Otten, Clifton City, Mo.; and Isaiah Otten, Otterville, Mo.; four sisters, Erica Rennison and her husband Richard, Sweet Springs, Mo.; Dara Pacheco and her husband Brent, Kansas City, Mo.; Tara Alaumbaugh and her husband Brian, Tipton, Mo.; and Shanna Drake, Syracuse, Mo.; grandparents, Bob and Marty Walkington. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Earl and Kathryn McDonald; paternal grandparents, Calvin and Laverne Otten; and grandparents, Tom and Isa May Drake Sr.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery, Latham, Mo. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Jones. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Herbert L. (Sonny) Peters, 73, of California, Mo., passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on August 12, 1938 in California, Mo., the son of Lawrence J. and Brooksie (Bradford) Peters, both of whom preceded him in death.

He was a graduate of California High School, and was a member of the California United Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army and Reserves. He was an animal lover, and enjoyed gardening, driving and eating.

He is survived by one brother, Jerry Peters and wife Mary of Jefferson City; one sister, Judy Asbell of California, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred Albert Peters and Larry Junior Peters.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
