City Council Meets

The City of California Board of Aldermen took up several new business items at its regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 4, including an Eagle Scout project, a package liquor license, and general liability insurance bids.

The Eagle Scout project, proposed by Allan Burger, was approved after several questions were answered. The project will add flag mounts to the period street light standards around the California City Hall and the County Courthouse.

Since single flag mounts could be a hazard for vehicle or pedestrian traffic, the Eagle Scout candidate said double flag mounts, with one on each side, could be used. Burger will be aided in the project by the Lions Club and the Burger Foundation. The Lions Club will assume upkeep of the flags and standards after Burger leaves for college.
