The Ag students attended the Area Ag Contest last Saturday, March 3. It was held at Eldon at 8 a.m. Schools from all over the state were there just to attend the contest.
This contest is just to help the students to practice for the districts and state contest. Over 900 students were there to compete in 14 different categories in groups of fours.
The categories are Ag Mechanics, Farm Management, Agronomy, Entomology, Dairy Foods, Poultry, Soils, FFA Knowledge, Dairy Cattle, Meats, Floriculture, Nursery/Landscaping, Forestry and Livestock.
Phillip Longan said " I definitely feel more prepared for districts and state."
Our mechanics team placed fourth out of 13 other teams that were competing. Livestock also placed eighth out of 16 teams. The rest of the teams ended up not being complete, so they were not able to place. Still they came away with some better experience.
