U.S. Fourth District Rep. Vicky Hartzler stopped by California on Friday, May 4, to hear from the public at a meeting held in the California City Council Chamber.
About 35 people were present to hear brief remarks from Rep. Hartzler on the activities in Washington, D.C., before she opened the floor to questions. She first said how she appreciated being on both the House Agriculture Committee and the Armed Services Committee since both are important to the country and to the state. She said agriculture products, major exports of the U.S., are important to Missouri.
"Every week some crazy regulation comes out of the bureaucracy In Washington, D.C.", she said. She addressed a variety of topics, such as the farm dust reduction regulations proposed by E.P.A., the farm youth work laws proposed by the Department of Labor, new regulations requiring wheelchair lifts in every hotel or motel swimming pool and hot tub open to the public because of new interpretations of the American Disability Act by the Department of Justice. She said even saunas are to be made wheelchair accessible.
