While working 12-hour night shifts for Chesebrough Ponds in Jefferson City, Originals Owner Kim Rimel began delivering flowers. Because of the big toll working evenings was having on her health and with her husband Rob also working evenings, Rimel was looking for something else. With Originals coming up for sale and the previous owner offering it to her, Rimel made a career change and became the owner in 2006. Since then, Rimel said she has moved the business and expanded it which has led to more customers and walk-in traffic. Rimel said her health has improved due to getting more sleep.

"It has been great," Rimel said. "I have wonderful customers and I think we have a good atmosphere here. I try to make my prices reasonable and make the customer comfortable. I like visiting and talking to the customers and meeting new people."
