Edna Mae Gray, 90, of California, Mo., passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at California Care Center, California, Mo.

She was born on March 1, 1922, at Barnett, Mo., to Aubrey U. and Mellie (Rohrbach) Gordon, both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on September 27, 1942, in Clarksburg, Mo., to Ted Gray who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gray was a graduate of Latham High School. She worked at Stride Rite Shoe Factory for many years. She was a member of the Pilot Grove Baptist Church. She was a member of the Monday Breakfast Club, was on a bowling league for several years, and was an avid collector of redbirds.

She is survived by one son, Dennis Gray and wife Sherry, California; five grandchildren, Heather Gray and significant other Kyle Moser, California, Vanessa Ringwald and husband Heath, California, Diedre Gray, Centralia, Ill., Robin Cameron and husband Jason, RAF Mildenhall UK, and Courtney Hutto and husband Wesley, Belleville, Ill.; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, John R. Gordon; and one sister, Hazel L. Flippin.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Eric Moore. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

William C. "Bill' Rentel, 63, of Prairie Home, passed away at his home on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012.

William Charles Rentel was born in Boonville, Mo., Feb. 27, 1949, the son of Robert J. Rentel and Dorothy Marie Davis Rentel.

Bill served his country with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He married Janice Zeller June 2, 1973, in Pilot Grove, and they are the parents of three children.

Bill was manager of the Prairie Home Co-op for 30 years until his retirement, at which time he had worked with the Jefferson City Post Office for three years, when health problems prevented him from working. Bill enjoyed the outdoors with hobbies that included fishing, hunting and four wheeling. He always looked forward to cooking at the co-op's barbecue each year. He was a true family man who appreciated his family and loved his grandchildren. He was also a member of the Clear Creeks Knights of Columbus.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rentel Sr.; and one grandchild, Greyson Rentel.  He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Rentel, of Pilot Grove; his wife, Janice, of the home; his sons, Kevin Rentel of El Dorado Springs, Mo., Brent Rentel (Casie) and Matthew Rentel (Tara), all of Prairie Home. His brother, R.J. Rentel (Pat) of Pilot Grove, Joyce Vollrath (James) of Pilot Grove, Marty Twenter (Larry), of Boonville, and Alice Brownfield (John), of Kansas City also survive. There will be an empty spot in the hearts of his grandchildren, Morgan and Brielle Rentel.

Visitation for Bill will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening, Sept. 19, at Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville, with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Friends may call from noon until time of visitation. The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Pilot Grove, with Father Bob Duesdieker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.

Betty June (Lake) Quick age 79, of California, Mo., went to be with her blessed Lord September 14, 2012, at Moniteau Care Center located in California Mo.

She was the daughter of the late Walter and Lula Lake. Born in Avoca, Ark., July 6, 1933.

Everyone who knew Betty will remember her quiet way, her smile that she shared with everyone she came in contact with and her helpful countenance. She would comfort her fellow residents. When she found someone she could help, whether it was a friendly smile, a gentle touch or a push in a wheel chair she would gladly do it. She will be sadly missed by those close to her.

Betty is survived by two daughters, Renee McCoy Dority and Deborah Sue McCoy of California, Mo.; grandchildren Rosella (Dority) Elgin, James Whitchurch, Wayne Gunnels, Bridget (Gunnels) DeMercurio, Tonya (Whitchurch) Austin, Heather (McCoy) Smith and Jon McCoy. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was also preceded in death by her beloved son James Michael McCoy. Also preceded in death by five sisters, Margaret Keeling, Onieda Higgins, Velva Long, Roberta Baker and Rita Sherman; five brothers, George, Harold, Hershel, Leslie and Roy Lake.

Graveside service were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the California City Cemetery.
