Receptions for retiring county assessor

In honor of retiring Moniteau County Assessor Darrel L. King, a pair of events were held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at the Moniteau County Courthouse. An event for friends, family and coworkers held at noon in the courtroom featured several songs by the Rohrbach Brothers: America, Jericho Road and a humerous tune about retirees. A plaque was presented to King by Anita Groepper and a House Resolution, signed by both Rep. David Wood and Rep. Caleb Jones, was presented by Presiding Commissioner Kenny Kunze. Judge Peggy Richardson led a "retiree roast" by his co-workers. King thanked everyone for their efforts in putting together the event.

A general reception with snacks was held from 1 to 3 p.m. Those in attendance included Boone County Assessor Tom Schauwacker, Callaway County Assessor Dan Roe, retired State Sen. Larry Rohrbach and Rep. David Wood.

King officially retires at the end of the month.
