Planning begins for CPI's 'Wine, Dine and Win' event

The California Progress, Inc. (CPI) Board of Directors discussed the "Wine, Dine and Win" fundraiser for next year, to be held at Braykley Hall. Other locations were considered, but none appears to meet the needs for the event. The event is planned for April 2014, with the exact date to be determined later.

The weekly inspections of the Finke Theatre have found no problems, other than lights having sometimes been left on. Water stains and minor erosion was found in an area thought to be damaged. A crack in the foundation wall which was allowing water to leak in has been repaired.

The old bricks in the building are softer and may need sealing. A professional opinion will be sought.

The Farmers Market Committee, a subcommittee of California Historic District (CHD) Committee, reported a "mini-mart" to be held Friday, Oct. 4. It is planned as a small fall market. More details will be available later.

A Farmers Market is being planned for April-October 2014, Fridays from 4-8 p.m. The details will be available later, including application forms, rules, regulations and booth costs.

The CHD reported the July 4 event came in under budget. It was determined help will be needed from each committee for next year's event.

A NAP grant application is being considered for use as a revolving fund for upgrades in the California Historic District .



A nominating committee was appointed to select officers and one new board member for next year.
