Christmas festival to be held in Prairie Home Saturday

"A Patriotic Christmas" is coming to Prairie Home Saturday, Dec. 14. That is the theme of the annual Christmas festival. There will be many events throughout the day. There will be a craft and vendor show from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The junior class will be serving cinnamon rolls, soup and chili from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the cafeteria. There will be several contests for showing the best use of the theme - a patriotic christmas. Those competitions include best dressed pet, to be judged outside the breezeway doors at the school at 11 a.m.; posters for ages preschool - high school in the gym at 11:00 am; prince and princess (ages 3-5) in the gym at 11:30 the prince and princess will ride in the parade; festive baby for ages newborn-two at 11:45.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. Parade line-up will be behind the school at 12:15. Anyone can enter a float. Float judging will be at 12:30 with first place receiving $100, second place $75, third place $50 and fourth place $40. Festive tractors, lawn mowers, four wheelers are welcome. Announcements will be made uptown. The highlight will be Santa in the school gym after the parade.

Prairie Home United Methodist youth went to Lazer Lanes in Columbia Sunday for a Christmas outing. They enjoyed laser tag, laser golf, bowling and arcade games. Afterward, they all went for pizza at CiCi's. Those attending were youth members Ben Kixmiller, Matt Stewart, Austin Small, Will Parr, Kaelyn Crews, Ryan Small, Luke Stewart, Hustin Force and Luke Stewart; leader Cindy Lenger; parents and family members Kevin and Heather Crews and Kate, Kim Force and Bowen, Nancy Kixmiller, Amy Small and Seth Stewart.

The Clover Kids will meet Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Lions Club building. All Clover Kids are asked to bring a small wrapped gift for a gift exchange.

The United Methodist Church Christmas program will be held Sunday, Dec. 15, at the 11 11 a.m.. worship service. A lunch of finger foods will follow in the fellowship hall.

The PTO is selling calendars as a fundraiser. The calendars feature art work from the elementary classes and all students from kindergarten through sixth grade will be represented. Black and white calendars can be purchased for $5 each, while color calendars may be purchased for $10 and may be ordered through the school office.

Dec. 12 - mini corn dogs or turkey club sandwich, french fries, carrots, fruit.

Dec. 13 - hamburger, baked beans, lettuce and tomato, fruit, chocolate chip cookie. ala carte - chef salad.

Dec. 16 - spaghetti with meat sauce or baked ham, breadstick, fruit, carrots.

Dec. 17 - chicken pot pie or hot dog on bun, steamed broccoli, fruit, chocolate chip cookie.

Dec. 18 - turkey stromboli or chicken wrap, potato wedge, corn, fruit mix, graham crackers.
