Trevor Hall wins CMS Spelling Bee

The California Middle School Spelling Bee was held Wednesday, Feb. 13, where a total of 15 students competed, five from each grade level (grades 6-8), with eighth grader Trevor Hall prevailing as the overall winner after spelling "fantastically" correctly. Cheyanne Harper, sixth grade, finished in second place, and seventh grader Mercede Nations came in third place. Each was presented a trophy provided by Creative Awards.

"All of the CMS students had the opportunity to participate," CMS Librarian and bee sponsor Jill Meisenheimer said. "First they competed in classroom bees, then the top 15 from each grade advanced to a grade-level bee, where the top five from each grade advanced to this spelling bee."

Tom Robbins served as pronouncer at the event.

Hall will go on to represent CMS at the Regional Scripps Spelling Bee March 6 at Columbia.
