Felony charges filed for domestic assault

An alleged incident of domestic assault the day after Christmas has resulted in felony charges against the accused perpetrator.

Dustin R. Campbell, 24, California, has been charged with, Count I, Class C felony Second Degree Domestic Assault and, Count II, Class C Felony Felonius Restraint as a result of his alleged actions on Dec. 26. An additional misdemeanor assault charge resulted from alleged actions by the defendant on the following day.

According to court documents, Campbell allegedly hit another household resident with his hands. As she attempted to leave, he is alleged to have sprayed her in the face with pepper spray and continued to hit her as she "was defenseless." He then is alleged to have broken the metal handle off the stove door, held her down and beat her with the handle, described as a metal rod, as she was pleading for him to stop.

As she attempted to get her cell phone to call the police, he is alleged to have hit her again, wouldn't let her call, then took the phone and left.

The following day, while another woman and her pre-teen children were at the residence, Campbell is alleged to have returned to the house, took the keys out of the visitor's car, entered the house, threw the keys at the visitor, yelled at her, called her names, told her she needed to get out of his house and pushed her repeatedly. He also pushed the resident of the house, flipped the kitchen table over and left.

If convicted on the felony charges, he could face up to seven years in prison and a $5,000 fine on each charge. Bond has been set at $50,000.
