A Taste of Local Missouri Festival planned for California

On Thursday, May 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Moniteau County Cultural Heritage Center, 20 people attended a planning meeting for the June 22 event of A Taste of Local Missouri. Local citizens from various organizations and local food producing retailers were in attendance.

This event will be an offer to taste some of the products and to buy locally produced items. These are small retailers, food producers, and artisans who are working together to promote local food, regional cuisine and heritage tourism. On June 22 the High Street will be closed near Patty Kay's Interior Design shop and the Finke Theatre area.

The public is invited to attend this event. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the live entertainment from 3 to 7 p.m. Watch and learn about cooking with healthy home-grown foods at the cooking demonstrations. Enjoy the tasting of prepared goods. There will be children activities offered by a local civic organization. Locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, herbs and flowers will be available for sale.

The next planning meeting is scheduled at the Moniteau County Cultural Heritage Center on June 6, at 6:30 p.m. Local producers are invited and strongly encouraged to attend this meeting for the planning of the June 22 event. If you are interested in being a volunteer for this event or having a booth, please contact Steve Johnson at 573-999-2165 or Vickie Schroeder at the CPI office at 796-4071.
