The Tipton R-VI School Board approved several bids and adjusted meal prices at it regular monthly meeting Monday, July 15.

As a part of the Consent Agenda, the bids for bread, milk and fuel were accepted for the 2013-14 school year.

The bread bid was awarded to Flowers Baking Company of Batesville, LLC, Batesville, Ark. The milk bid was awarded to Prairie Farms / Central Dairy. The bid for diesel fuel was accepted from MFA Oil Company, from the 24 hour Petro-Card site. Superintendent Scott Jarvis reported that the new football field lights are scheduled to arrive the week of July 22 and will be installed as soon as possible.

Jarvis announced changes needed in the breakfast and lunch prices for the 2013-14 school year because of the Healthy, Hunger Free Schools Act of 2010. A formula must be used to figure prices. As a result, the K-6 lunch has risen from $175 to $1.80, the 7-12 lunch from $2 to $2.05 and the adult lunch from $2.30 to $2.35. All other prices remain the same.

The admission prices for sports events remain the same. The substitute teacher pay rate is $70 per day and the long-term sub rate is $130 per day if they substitute for the same teacher beginning on day one and continue for the duration for 2013-14. This is not a change but it was put forward to answer questions which were asked.

Other decisions made include keeping mileage reimbursement rates at 40 cents per mile for the year and keeping the district goals the same as last year.
