Area athletes advance to Class 1 Sectional Track Meet

Two Jamestown athletes and one Prairie Home athlete were among the top four finishers in their event at the Class 1 District 5 Track Meet Monday at Marshall, to earn All-District honors and advance to Class 1 Sectionals Saturday, May 11, at Boonville.

Jamestown freshman Mickayla Strother placed second in the 100 Meter Hurdles with 17.45, and fourth in the 100 Meter Dash with 13.80 to qualify for sectionals, while sophomore Garrett Jones placed third in the 1600 Meter with 5:19.81 to qualify.

Prairie Home senior Trever Huth placed third in the Triple Jump to qualify for sectionals and earn All-District honors.

"Trever will be the only one moving to sectionals," Prairie Home Coach Garon Overfield said. "I wish we had more, but we still have a lot to be proud of. I'm very proud of the season we put together and we have a lot to be excited about for next year."

The top four finishers at sectionals will qualify to advance to the Class 1 State Track Championships May 17-18 at Dwight T. Reed Stadium, Jefferson City.
