California Area Chamber of Commerce plans Golf Tournament

During the California Area Chamber of Commerce Board meeting, Thursday, May 9, Corry Field, golf tournament chairman, reported the tournament will be held Wednesday, June 12, at 12 noon, at the California Country Club. Anyone wishing to have a team or sponsor a hole can contact the chamber office at 796-3040 or Field at 796-3337 x5710.

Melissa Bonecutter, treasurer, reported the taxes were completed and filed before the deadline of April 15. 

Diane Eulinger, executive secretary, distributed a written report in the member's packets and thanked the board for the flowers for Administrative Professional's Day.

The Volunteer of the Year plaque was available for viewing. The plaque will be hung in the chamber office at city hall.

Ken Parrott, MRED, presented information on the Missouri Work Ready Program for Moniteau County. He requested the chamber to support the program by encouraging businesses to take part. This program helps to identify a qualified workforce in the county. This can be very beneficial in recruiting new businesses and in helping employees advance in their current jobs.

The 2013 Ornament bid was awarded to B-W Graphics. This year's design will be the 1957 Fire Truck. Ornaments will be available for sale in the Chamber office and at the Ozark Ham & Turkey Festival.

Brad Baer reported the Ozark Ham & Turkey Festival committee will meet Monday, June 3, at 5 p.m., in the city hall meeting room. The committee is currently working on a group to sponsor the Kids Korner. 

Shelly Hampton and Melanie McDonald shared the Scholarship Committee received 10 applications and have awarded six scholarships of $750 each to the winning seniors. 

The Chamber Board will participate in Taste of Local Missouri Food Festival June 22, from 3- 7 p.m. Eulinger will coordinate workers to hand out California brochures and advertise the Ozark Ham & Turkey Festival.

The next Chamber Board meeting will be Thursday, June 13, at 8 a.m., in the city hall meeting room.
