Mid-Missouri spared bad weather

May 21st, 2013 in News

Compared to other parts of Missouri and the Midwest, Mid-Missouri seemed to have been spared much of the brunt of Monday's storms.

Officials at the National Weather Service in St. Louis had no reports of storm damage in Cole County, although they did have a report of over 50 mph wind gusts in the Lohman area.

Callaway County had numerous reports of high winds including over 45 mph gusts at the Jefferson City Memorial Airport as well as in the New Bloomfield area.

The majority of the power outages were reported around the Lake of the Ozarks area, where utility lines and trees were brought down by high winds and even a small tornado near Gravois Mills. The tornado was confirmed Tuesday by the National Weather Service in Springfield.

By Tuesday afternoon, Ameren Missouri reported all its outages had been repaired and Three Rivers Electric Cooperative officials said they never went over 100 outages and most all their customers where back online by early Tuesday morning.
