Missouri State Library's LSTA Grants Greatly Benefit Library

May 22nd, 2013 in News

Many libraries deal with the same issue of funding that covers only the day-to-day operation of the library.  The Moniteau County Library @ Wood Place utilizes fundraisers, donations and grants to fund special projects that enhance library services.  Grants are made available through the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State, which is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

We currently are managing three grants.  Earlier this year eReader Exploration & Mini Technology Grants were awarded, and in April, a Nonfiction Collection Makeover Grant was awarded.  This non-matching grant provides two thousand dollars to purchase books that will greatly improve the Adult and Juvenile Nonfiction collections.

Grant funds provided 98 new titles for the adult collection and 29 titles for the juvenile collection. These titles are listed on our webpage at  You may also browse a special display of these adult nonfiction titles in the library and take a paper copy with you for future reference.  The juvenile titles are currently being processed for check-out and should be extremely popular during the summer reading program.

We are grateful to Beth Jungmeyer for grant writing skills which resulted in three grants being awarded this year!

We will continue to look for ways to improve library services as we strive to provide Moniteau County with a successful 21st century library.
