Rooftop reading may result in new books

Daniel Williams, principal of California Elementary School, has accepted the Principal Challenge through Pizza Hut Book It.

Williams will read from 7:50 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, from the top of the school building.

The challenge celebrates National Young Readers Week.

One participating school will win 101 copies of Jeff Kinney's "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard," the eighth in the series, for its library.

Book It is the longest-running, corporate-supported reading incentive program in the nation, launched in 1985 by Pizza Hut and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.
