Speech team competes at Knob Noster

Six members of the California High School speech team and their coaches Ben Wilson and Kendra Logue participated in the Knob Noster Panthers Invitation Speech Tournament, Saturday, Oct. 26, in Knob Noster.

Students competing were Abi Fast, Taylor Werdehausen, Taylor Fast, Jacob Collier, Clayton Percival and McKenna Turpin.

This was the first competition for Fast, Collier, Percival and Turpin. Out of 10 entries, California placed in six events.

Categories were Poetry, Prose, Extemporaneous Speaking (Extemp), Improvisational Duet Acting(IDA) and Original Oratory (OO).

The individual results are as follows, Prose: Abi Fast, fourth; Poetry: Abi Fast, fourth, Taylor Werdehausen, fifth;

Improvisational Duet Acting: Clayton Percival and McKenna Turpin, fifth; Extemporaneous Speaking: Taylor Werdehausen third; Original Oratory: Abi Fast, second.

The team competed against Helias, Tipton and Crest Ridge Schools.

Coach Logue shared, "I am very excited about the performance of this team at their first competition."
