Twin City Garden Club meets

Twin City Garden Club members Nancy Martin and Dorothy Hughes attended the Central District Fall meeting at the First Christian Cutch in Centralia. The business meeting was called to order by the District Director Cynthia Florek of theVineclad Garden Club, Boonville. Each of the 12 club presidents attending gave reports of activities over the past year.

Following lunch new officers were installed by the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri President Joyce Lewis. The new Central District Director will be Linda Houston, Fulton. Tanya Stanley, Gravois Mills will serve at First Assistant and Cynthia Broderson, Tipton will serve as Second Assistant. Serving as secretary will be Mary Bullock, Gravois Mills, with Karen Blackmore, Columbia, as treasurer.

The program was presented by Joy Vellema, Hallsville, who had a display and demonstrated her craft of making yard ornaments and other decorations from a variety of glass table ware.

She used mostly clear glass but occasionally used some colored for a particular holiday. Most of these she picked up at yard sales and second hand stores. She used a special "hard as nails" glue to hold the parts together and did not move them or handle them for a time afterward in order for the glue to set properly.

The next district meeting will be in March 2014 hosted by the

Arrowhead Garden Club, Lake Ozark.

The Twin City Garden Club welcomes visitors or anyone wishing to join. The club meets the second Tuesday of the month at the United Methodist church. It is a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri, the Central Region and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. Many environmental and gardening classes and workshops are offered for members.
