FFA students are taking advantage of improvements to the skeet range at the California Shooters Club facilities. On Sunday, Sept. 29, 15 FFA students from California and Jamestown met for skeet shooting practice.

Improvements at the facility, partially funded by the Missouri Department of Conservation, include an expansion of the range building and a voice-activated system for throwing the clay discs used in skeet shooting.

There were 15 FFA students present on Sunday. Taylor Fast, McKenna Turpin, Trent Patterson, Clayton Percival, Lindsey VanDieren, Dallas Breshears, Dustin Ferguson, Jarret Hatch, Josh Volkart, Baylee Schuster, Matt Oerly and Jacob Hoellering, all of California FFA, and Dylan Ash, Cole Brizendine and Dakota Matthews, Jamestown FFA. The FFA students make regular use of the range for practice.

Tony Wineland, a skeet shooter, said it is encouraging to see so many young people involved in a family oriented sports activity such as skeet shooting.
