The Russellville High School varsity girls golf team competed at the Class 1 District 2 Golf Tournament Monday at Redfield Country Club, Eugene, where the Lady Indians finished in second place to advance as a team to Class 1 District 2 Sectionals Monday, Oct. 14, at Crescent Farms Golf Course, St. Louis. (The top two teams and next 15 individuals at the district tourney qualify to advance to sectionals.)
St. Dominic won with 373, followed by Russellville with 390. California placed third with 407, Osage fourth with 408 and St. Francis Borgia fifth with 423.
Russellville was led by Mikala Jungmeyer who placed third individually with 82. Kelsey Schrimpf placed fourth with 84. Madison Oliver placed 24th with 111; Chantz Grellner placed 27th (tie) with 113; and Madie Bungart finished 33rd (tie) with 116.
Jungmeyer and Schrimpf earned All-District honors.
Previously, the Lady Indians participated in a quadrangular match at Redfield Country Club, Eugene, Thursday, where Russellville won with 186. Also participating were New Bloomfiled, Eugene and Crocker.
Schrimpf, Jungmeyer and Oliver were co-medalists with 43 each. Grellner shot a 57.
The Lady Indians will compete at Class 1 District 2 Sectionals Monday, Oct. 14, at Crescent Farms Golf Course, St. Louis.
