Roach charged with burglary and assault

Five felony charges have been filed in Moniteau County Court against Daniel Ray Roach, 23, Versailles.

According to court documents, the defendant allegedly went to Fortuna on Oct. 5, entered a residence there, allegedly assaulted a male occupant with a multitool while a female went for help. When another male came to the aid of the first victim, Roach also is alleged to have also attacked that person with the multitool. As officers from the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene following a 911 call of a fight in progress, the defendant is alleged to have fled the scene and was located and arrested in Tipton.

The defendant was charged with Class B Felony Burglary for unlawfully entering the residence in Fortuna, two Class B Felony Assault charges for assaults made on the two separate individuals, Felony Armed Criminal Action for use of a deadly weapon and Class D Felony Resisting /Interfering with Arrest for a Felony for fleeing officers. If convicted on the Class B Felony charges, he could face 5-15 years in prison. If convicted on the Armed Criminal Action charge, he could face three years without parole. If convicted on the Class D Felony charge, he could face four years in prison and a $5,000 fine. No bond allowed pending arraignment.
