The Russellville High School volleyball teams hosted California Thursday night, where the varsity Lady Indians lost 6-25 and 16-25 to the Lady Pintos.

"The first game the Indians played timid and with some inconsistency," Russellville Coach Shelly Korte said. "In the second game, I was very proud of our girls for giving all they had. We played hard and had some excellent defense, serves and communication on the court. We played together as a team."

Russellville's JV also lost to California, 13-25 and 15-25.

"The JV lacked good consistent passes," Korte said. "We had to spend too much time playing defense against the Pintos."

Russellville's varsity participated in the Versailles Tournament Saturday at Stover, where the Lady Indians lost to Stover, Eldon and Marshall in pool play.

"We didn't make it out of our pool," Korte said. "Only the top two teams made it out of each pool. The Versailles Tournament has always been fun and competitive, and we get to see different teams. It's a day of good volleyball. Overall, we started off slow against a tough Stover, but continued on playing more consistent and showing lots of hustle against Eldon and Marshall. We are showing signs of great volleyball to come at Russellville. All of the girls worked hard to compete and were worn out by the end of pool play. Our Senior Night game will be a competitive one against Eldon, if we play them like we did in the tournament, 19-25 and 16-25. We are all ready for an upset on Senior Night."

Previously, the Lady Indians traveled to Hallsville Oct. 8, where the JV won 25-10, 20-25 and 25-15.

"The JV rallied together with ace serves and good passes to beat Hallsville," Korte said.

Russellville's varsity lost to Hallsville 11-25 and 16-25.

"Our varsity played more consistent in the second game," Korte said.

Russellville will host Eldon at 6 p.m. Thursday.
