Five first-time Cub Scouts were presented with the Bobcat badge at the October Cub Scout Pack 120 Meeting. Regardless of his age or grade when joining Cub Scouts, a boy must earn his Bobcat badge before he can advance. Bobcat requirements include learning the Cub Scout Motto, Cub Scout Promise, and the Law of the Pack. In addition, the boy must be able to demonstrate the Cub Scout sign, salute and handshake. The Bobcat badge is pinned to the boy's uniform upside down and must remain that way until the scout does a good deed. Able volunteers assisting with the Bobcat ceremony were Bear Den Leader Doug Dampf and Tiger Den Leader Ernie Fast.

In addition, several other busy Cub Scouts were recognized for achievements in activities such as fishing, basketball, bicycling, collecting, soccer, baseball, wildlife conservation, and computers. Additional awards were earned by Webelos in the categories of Traveler, Scholar, Sportsman and Craftsman.

The Cub Scouts are eagerly anticipating the Oct. 26 Halloween party where they will participate in a spooky, yet informative, outdoor trail of holiday-themed stations. There will also be a cupcake and cake decorating contest, costume contest and overnight campout for Webelos.

Looking ahead to November, the monthly pack-wide meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4, at the VFW hall. Grade-level Den meetings are also scheduled throughout the month. If you know a boy aged first-fifth grade who is interested in scouting, call Cameron at 796-2979 or Brad at 796-0242 for more information.
