Indians place second at Owensville Invitational

The Russellville High School varsity cross country team participated in the Owensville Invitational Oct. 15, where the Indians finished in second place out of 14 teams with 91. Fatima finished in first place with 61, while Sullivan placed third with 99, and Owensville finished fourth with 103.

Alex M. Thompson led Russellville with 17:03 to finish in second place individually. Anthony Bertucci placed 19th with 18:04; Jamie Porter, 21st with 18:08; Nick Haslag, 24th with 18:16; Matthew Fringer, 26th with 18:21; Alex D. Thompson, 64th with 19:45; and Caleb Nichols, 70th with 19:56.

Russellville's varsity girls placed fourth with 122 out of 10 teams. Fatima won the meet with 37, followed by Owensville with 93, and Pacific with 101.

Grace Young finished in second place to lead the Lady Indians with 20:16. Miranda Hill placed 23rd with 21:49; Hannah Michitsch, 31st with 22:24; Taylor Young, 33rd with 22:33; Erica Miller, 63rd with 24:22; Addie Kirchner, 64th with 24:28; and Mary Potts, 92nd with 28:46.

Next for the RHS cross country runners is the Fatima Invitational at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westphalia.
