PRAIRIE HOME - The Prairie Home Swimming Pool Association is hosting a deep-fried turkey dinner on Sept. 14, to raise funds for the pool. The dinner will be served from 4:30-7:30 p.m., at the Methodist Fellowship Hall (on Highway 87 between Mainstreet Bank and the United Methodist Church). For a free will donation, diners can feast on a meal prepared by Earl Scheidt that includes turkey, sides and dessert. All proceeds will go to the Swimming Pool Association.

The Panther Booster Club is off to a busy start. The first fundraiser of the year was a bake sale during the Lady Panthers tournament on Sept. 7. On Sept. 25, they have arranged for "Panther Pride Pizza Night".

Panther athletes will be waiting tables for tips at Granny's Country Vittles Cafe in downtown Prairie Home. Owner Mattie Hutchison has graciously designated this a special pizza fundraiser night for the Panther athletes and Boosters. In addition to tips earned, $1 from every pizza sold will go to the Booster Club. You can eat in, take out or the coaches and athletes will make deliveries in the Prairie Home area!! Dinner will be from 5 -8 p.m. Prairie Home Panther window decals are available again this year for $10. The decals are a

great way to show your support for the Panthers.

The FCCLA is sponsoring a blood drive on Wednesday, Sept.18, at the school. The blood drive will be from 1- 6 p.m. Call Cyndi Reichel @ (573) 353 -8322 to schedule your appointment.

Target is giving away $5,000,000 to schools throughout the country. You can help Prairie Home receive some of it by going to https://givewith.target.com/ and voting for Prairie Home School. It does require that you allow target to post on Facebook that you voted. After the first 25 votes received $25 and an additional dollar for each vote is given. You can vote once a week until the contest ends on Sept. 21.

The United Methodist church has chosen its project for Serve2013. Members will be painting the grandstand at the fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept. 28. The paint will be provided by the Prairie Home fair board. Community members are invited to bring painting tools (brushes, rollers, trays, etc) and come to the fairgrounds at 9 a.m. to join in this project to "Paint the Grandstand"!

Helping Hands 4-H Club held its first meeting of the year on Monday at the school library. The 4-H club is for all youth ages eight - 18 (members must be eight years old by Jan. 1, 2014). The United Methodist Youth met Sunday evening. After a lesson conducted by youth leader Cindy Lenger, the youth enjoyed a meal prepared by Marsha Stewart. Youth attending were Ben Kixmiller, Matt Stewart, Austin Small, Kaelyn Crews, Ryan Small, Luke Stewart, Huston Force and Time Stewart. The next meeting will be October 13 with Amy and Kevin Small providing the meal.
