Lady Panthers play in CCAA Softball tournament

The Prairie Home Lady Panthers played in the CCAA Softball tournament in Higbee over the weekend. At the end of the second day of competition, the Panthers defeated Pilot Grove to take third place.

School pictures will be taken Sept.19 beginning at 8 a.m. Please be sure to send picture order form, along with payment, to school with your student.

You have until Sept. 21 to vote for Prairie Home School in the "Give with Target" promotion. Target is giving away $5,000,000 to schools throughout the country. You can help Prairie Home receive some of it by going to https://givewith.target.com/ and voting for the school. It does require that you allow target to post on Facebook that you voted. After the first 25 votes the school receives $25 and an additional dollar for each vote. As of Wednesday morning the school had 81 votes. You can vote once a week until the contest ends on Sept.21.

Home owner Mattie Hutchison has designated a special pizza fundraiser night for the Panther athletes and Boosters. Panther athletes will be waiting tables for tips at Granny's Country Vittles Cafe in Prairie Home. In addition to tips earned, $1 from every pizza sold will go to the Booster Club. You can eat in, take out or the coaches and athletes will make deliveries.

Come help the Prairie Home United Methodist Church members paint the grandstand at the fairgrounds on Saturday, Sept. 28. Helping Hands 4-H and FCCLA will help in this community project.

Prairie Home PTO is sponsoring SmartyPants Trivia Night on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m., at the school. Entry fee of $80/team with eight people maximum/team. Prizes will be awarded for first-third places. Refreshments will be served. Teams should register by Sept. 25 by calling Lacy Scott, PTO president, at 660/888-8773.

The Helping Hands 4-H held its first meeting of the year last week and voted to work with Prairie Home United Methodist Church on a community service project, painting the grandstand at the fairgrounds. They also voted to donate to the Buddy Pack program again this year. Election of officers was held. Officers for 2013-14 are: president - Amber Carmichael; vice president - Sage Eichenburch; secretary - Nina Cherry; treasurer -Aubrey Scott; reporter - Gabe Turner; historian - Paiton Williams; song leader - Faith Vance; and recreation leaders - Tripp Kendrick and Enoch Turner.
