A quorum was not present at the regular monthly meeting of MRED (Moniteau County Regional Economic Development Council) Board of Directors held at Downtown Cafe, Tipton, Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Those present reviewed the financial report, which will be approved at the next regular meeting with a quorum present.

Executive Director Ken Parrett approved an update on progress of local business and industry interests in Moniteau County. Parrett said some companies have shown interest in the county as a business location and the Economic Enterprise Zone (EEZ) has been a factor. There is some consideration by a couple of companies to open locations in the county.

The effort to build on the job skills program Missouri Work Ready Certification is continuing. It is needed for 19 businesses to sign on. With eight so far, 11 more are needed in the next two years to gain the level needed.

Following the meeting, several of those present toured Koechner Manufacturing Company, Inc. in Tipton. The tour is covered in another story in this week's California Democrat.

The October MRED meeting will be in California.
