Tawnya Clause is a new counselor at California Elementary School for the 2013-14 school year. She graduated from Central Missouri State University / University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, with an undergraduate major in psychology, with a minor child development. She will graduate in December from Lincoln University with a master's degree in school guidance and counseling.

This is her second year in education. She began last year at Clarksburg. This year she is counselor at California Elementary, two days a week on Wednesdays and Fridays, and Clarksburg two days a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Clause, her husband Christopher, children, Elly, 9, and Emilia, 3, reside in her hometown, California. In her spare time, she likes to read, spend time with her family and vacation at the beach.

"The counseling program is one of the most important programs a school has," Clause said. "Students that are having emotional problems as well as are in need of academic support can gain what they need through their school counselor. Once a child receives intervention and support they often can move on to have long term academic success. I will be working along side with CES Counselor Christine Goans and I am beyond excited."
