Lady Pintos take out Lady Panthers

The California High School volleyball teams hosted Centralia Monday night at CHS, where the varsity won 25-17, 17-25 and 25-22.

Sydney Deeken led California with five aces, 10 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. Caitlin Meyer followed with one ace, five kills, 20 digs and one block. Paige Halsey had eight kills and four blocks and Kamryn Koetting had three kills and 11 digs. Abby Luekenotte had 12 assists and six digs and Madilyn Safley had 13 assists.

"Caitlin Meyer continues to be a great leader on and off the court," California Coach Julie Bailey said following the match win. "She's an integral part of our offense and defense. We couldn't do it without her."

California's JVA defeated Centralia 25-16 and 25-13, while the JVB Lady Pintos also won their match, 25-15 and 25-22.

Previously, the Lady Pintos traveled to Wardsville Thursday, where California's varsity lost 23-25, 25-19 and 11-25 to the Lady Falcons.

Deeken led California with four aces, 17 kills, six digs and two blocks. Halsey had six kills and oone block, and Meyer had five digs and three kills. Safley had 15 assists and one ace and Luekenotte had 11 assists. Kamryn Koetting and Morgan Henley each contributed five digs.

"Blair Oaks has a strong-hitting team and we had too many errors to win the first and third sets," Bailey said. "Paige Halsey had an excellent game at the net and Sydney's hitting and serving helped us to compete. We have to improve our passing to beat tough teams."

California's JVA lost 24-26 and 16-25, while the JVB Lady Pintos lost 25-17, 17-25 and 17-25.

California hosted Warsaw Sept. 17, where the varsity defeated the Lady Wildcats 25-9 and 25-11.

Deeken led California with two aces, 12 kills, six digs and three blocks. Meyer had three kills and nine digs and Halsey had five kills and one block. Luekenotte had seven assists and one aces and Safley had eight assists, four digs and two aces. Henly contributed one ace and six digs.

"Caitlin Meyer and Abby Luekenotte continue to be key players and great leaders who help lead us to victory," Bailey said.

California's JVA also defeated Warsaw, 25-9 and 25-15.

The Lady Pintos will play at Mexico Monday, beginning with the JV match at 6 p.m.
